Company History

Mauriora-ki-te-Ao/Living Universe Ltd. (MKTA) was formed in 1995 by husband and wife team of Parekāwhia McLean and Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal. It was initially formed to enable the two directors to advance their careers and as a vehicle for their creativity.

1995-2002

In the period from 1995 to 2002, the company worked  on a number of diverse projects - from assisting with a review of New Zealand museum standards to the composition and publication of the ground breaking Māori language popular music CD entitled Tohu: Mauriora.

2003-present

Since 2003, MKTA has reorganised itself as a 'creativity' company using fields of policy and research to understand and express 'creative potential'. Since 2003, the company has provided policy services to a range of public and private sector clients (see our Projects page). Additionally, the company has conducted ongoing research under the general title of 'Innovation and Mātauranga Māori' (see our Research pages).
