Vision Mātauranga
is a policy framework developed for the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology concerning the place of mātauranga Māori and indigenous knowledge within New Zealand's research, science and technology system. Dr Charles Royal, on behalf of Mauriora-ki-te-Ao/Living Universe Ltd, acted as senior advisor at the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology. His role was to lead the policy process which lead to the creation of the framework. Read more about this project here.
 
Ōrotokare: Art, Story, Motion Trust
a charitable trust, formed in 2004 and dedicated to the innovation in traditional indigenous/Māori performing arts. Its purpose is to explore and innovate the following six performing arts forms:
 
Ngā Haka (dance)
Ngā Waiata (songs and singing
Nga Kōrero (stories and storytelling)
Ngā Taonga Pūoro (musical instruments)
Ngā Taonga-o-Wharawhara (bodily adornments)
Ngā Tākaro (games and amusements)
 
Additionally, the trust explores a new kind of theatre that might emerge when these various form are brought together. MKTA is incubating and supporting the development of Ōrotokare. You can read more here.
 
Te Kaimānga: Towards a New Vision for Mātauranga Māori
is a research project funded from 2004 to 2007 by the Foundation of Research, Science and Technology. The goal of the project is to articulate a new vision for mātauranga Māori or traditional Māori knowledge. The project entails researching and writing five monographs on key themes and questions relating to mātauranga Māori. They are as follows:

Towards an Epistemology of mātauranga Māori
Mātauranga Māori and Worldview
Wānanga: The Creation of Mātauranga Māori
Mātauranga Māori and Society
 
The project is being assisted by an advisory committee and is being lead by Dr Charles Royal with research assistance from Tania Simpson and Dr Te Maire Tau. You can read more about this exciting project here.
 
Tohu: Mauriora
is a CD of Māori language popular music that was published by MKTA in 1998. It was one of the very first CDs completed for Te Māngai Pāho (Māori Broadcasting Funding Agency). You can buy this CD here.
