Meaningful Action

Making Good Decisions

Meaningful action is about making quality decisions and implementing those decisions effectively. Policy and research are key to finding appropriate actions to help address a challenge or issue.

Organisations and individuals seek to take action to meet certain outcomes. They wish to know that the decisions they make, and the actions they take, are informed by good ideas and robust  information and knowledge.  Utimately, quality policy making is about inspiring and enabling meaningful action to take place. A good policy also includes the following features:

  • clear problem definition
  • well developed options and solutions
  • an understanding of financial and resource implications
  • an understanding of stakeholder interests
  • measures or indicators in place to ensure solution(s) work
  • clear, concise and simple language
